Acton has had an identity and been a community since 1852. Land grants brought the early settlers to the eastern banks of the Brazos River where they built their farms, churches, schools, and businesses. They loved the land, the Brazos, and appreciated the bounty that nature provided them. Their spirit of entrepreneurship and “can do” attitude is still alive and well today in Acton. The leisurely pace of Acton is a welcomed contrast to the hustle and bustle of city life. Access to Lake Granbury and historic Granbury square is a mere 20 minutes away. Historic Elizabeth Crockett, wife of Davy Crockett, is buried in the historic Acton cemetery. The grave site is designated a state historic site by the Texas Historical Commission. State Website
